12 Degrees & Skiving

what began as year-long challenge has become perpetual until further notice

NaPoWriMo • 12 April • The amphora and the dandelion / L’anfora e il tarassaco

Today’s poem should have been yesterday’s and has been written on the wing – I will write today’s poem tonight…these days I need a twin!).

She was blown apart in order to arrive

in the days before, sometimes
she was just a dandelion head
full and ready to yield
other days, a Tarquinian amphora
bleached with excavated light
used for porting overpriced
oil, scented
with the endeavors of others

a swirl of atoms later
and the sum of all parts have seeded
silver saplings all over
in the stead of pretty weeds
and the vessel, put back
together, just so
shows faults and fractures
into which she pushes
smoothes, burnishes
gold panned from the dust

~ ~ ~

Lei è stato spazzato via per arrivare.

Nei giorni precedenti, talvolta
lei era solo una testa di tarassaco,
completo e pronto a produrre,

leviga, lustra
l’oro ha estratto dalla polvere.

Reminds me of dandelion heads blown to the wind on one of our Tuscan strolls in 2012. Italiano? Only up to Presente dell’Indicativo and Passato Prosimo so some still escapes me without a dictionary. Glad for the translation.

Good guess – Brava! That photo just happens to be from our walk between Pitigliano and Sovana 🙂 Are you still studying Italiano?
